Superior 80s shocker finally finding an audience
Susan Tyrrell is her usual weird and wonderful self in a surprisinglytaut horror/thriller that should have yielded more fanfare than itdid.Thankfully, this one seems to finally be attaining some of theoverdue attention it deserves.
Jimmy McNichol is raised by his clinging, possessive aunt who is closeto the edge of a serious crackup. Nearing graduation and making collegeplans, Jimmy and his steady find themselves suddenly entangled in theinvestigation of a murdered homosexual. The local law enforcementsuspects Jimmy is the killer...sizing him up as a light-in-the-loafersteenage Lolita-boy with an aunt who's willing to take the rap for him.Meanwhile, Auntie's behavior grows ever stranger, and one investigatorbegins to have doubts about her innocence...as well as her nephew'ssafety.
Great performances and a very offbeat story make this a standout in itsgenre. 6.5/10
